1947 International KB-6 Boom Truck

1947 International KB-6 Boom Truck for sale

Found this antique American Boom truck offered for sale by the owner on craigslist for $5,900 located in Newport, Oregon. As shown here 1947 International KB-6 Boom Truck is in fair condition and looking for a new owner.

1947 international KB-6 Boom Truck This one of a kind boom truck was originally custom built for use in the oil fields of Southern California and subsequently was acquired by the now defunct power company, Santa Fe Energy Co, Western Division and used to set wooden power poles in Eastern Oregon. It is completely original, though the engine, at some point was converted to run on propane for it spent most of its life out in the "boonies" where gas stations were few and far between. It was abandoned on a high desert ranch bought by a friend of mine and believed to have been in running condition when parked? It has a blue (or black) diamond 6 cylinder gas engine and 5 spd. manual transmission. The unique, custom welded boom extends over the cab and is powered by massive PTO driven hand lever and foot peddle operated cable winch. Bed is solid but weathered and original. Both body and interior are in good shape; shouldn't be a difficult restoration for someone familiar with vintage "corn binders". This truck is unique in all the world and it turned heads every time we stopped for fuel hauling it home. The truck is being sold with a Bill of Sale only, will load onto your trailer or transport at no cost within 75 miles of Newport, OR. 97365 Asking $5,900 OBO

1941 or 1946 KB6 International Harvester dump truck 2.5 ton, flat-6 engine, serial no. FAC24111098. I am the second private owner. First private owner used it on his family farm and then stored in a shed. I purchased in 2006 and spent about $5K mechanical rebuild and then used it to repair mountain roads. It sat outside for the last couple years. Modest surface rust, no real rust on body or chassis. Rust through in a couple places in dump bed. Pretty complete and original. Have boiled out the tank, cleaned fuel lines, installed new fuel pump and got it running and driving again. Also cleaned up the cockpit and rust proof painted the floor boards. Lots of dents in the heavy-gauge metal cab and fenders. Bill of sale, no title. If you know the correct year and model, I would appreciate knowing. This truck is a beauty queen compared to some of the other old K6 trucks I have seen. The ultimate rat rod.
